Wrapping Paper Roll: Tortoise Trellis, Ruby

Tortoiseshell is one of my all-time favourite natural patterns, and I've long been trying to recreate it using my pen and inks. I painted each tile using watercolour and the darkest sable Japanese ink to give depth and texture to the black and capture that almost reflective quality. Laid out into a golden trellis pattern, I love how this feels festive and sophisticated at once.
